Sales Leader - Risk Consulting (Africa)

We are seeking a talented individual to join the Regional Sales division at Marsh. This role will be based in Sandton, hybrid and has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The role involves organising, packaging, and presenting the global capacity and capability of Marsh and McLennan companies, while driving measurable and sustainable growth by increasing market share in the Risk Consulting space.

We will count on you to:

Key Growth Objectives:

Integrate Marsh Risk Consulting solutions with the broking business, to deliver the firm to current and prospective clients, driving systematic growth in the Risk Consulting business.  

Lead, develop and pro-actively seek out new prospects, in conjunction with the broader Marsh teams.

Drive the development of client centric solutions, articulate and present these as required.

Assume leadership and ownership of the sales cycle within the divisions under management.

Secure client wins in targeted industries.

Ensure effective cross-selling between Marsh divisions.

Meet or exceed the agreed income targets.

Develop relationships with markets and Key Client decision makers.

Execution of Sales Strategy

Responsible for the development and delivery of the sales strategy in partnership with the regional sales leader.  

Lead sales financials at monthly sales meetings and executive committee meetings. 

Align sales strategy and execution to key strategic pillars such as Marsh CVX model and an Industry approach. 

Ensures alignment with core segment, industry, specialty, and matrix leaders.

Drive written RFP responses through the impact, operations and analytics teams. 

Drive operational excellence in sales across the region, resulting in sales revenue growth. 

Talent Management

Supports goal setting and business planning for the Risk Consulting practices and help them adopt successful behaviours that lead to results and goal achievement.

Leads activity and pipeline reviews including MPower adoption in Risk Consulting.

Works with industry, risk practice, partnership and office leaders to understand and train colleagues in the differentiated value propositions and general advancement of sales skills.

Funnel Management and Forecasting

Lead the development and execution of monthly sales financial packs to support and enable executives/business unit/segment heads to drives results within their teams. 

Maintains funnel and ensures funnel integrity at required levels according to agreed KPI’s. 

Support monthly sales forecast alongside industry, specialty, and matrix leaders

What you need to have:

Bachelor’s degree

Postgraduate studies (MBA, CFA, or CA)

10 years’ Risk Consulting experience to large businesses

5 years’ experience in consulting alongside a broking business

Experience and strong track record in a sales role

Experience in leadership and managing a P&L (preferable)

Strong understanding of insurance markets and placements for large, complex businesses
