Job Purpose & Objectives

As a senior Fixed Income Sales professional within the Asia Macro, EM and DM Products  Sales team, you will be responsible for developing and expanding BBVA’s client franchise among Financial Institutions in Japan. This role involves direct client coverage of institutional accounts (e.g. banks, asset managers, insurance companies, securities companies), delivering BBVA’s fixed income capabilities across Rates, FX, Repo/Securities Financing, and cash bond products. You will be expected to contribute to the revenue line by leveraging existing relationships and originating new client opportunities in a competitive and regulated landscape.

You will work closely with BBVA’s global trading, structuring, and research teams to provide top-tier market intelligence and trade execution, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic goals across the Asia-Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities

Drive fixed income products sales to Financial Institutions in Japan, acting as a key revenue generator on the Asia desk

Develop and execute a focused client strategy to deepen wallet share among existing Japanese institutional clients while opening new accounts

Provide high-quality product coverage across FX, Rates, Repo/SFT and cash bonds

Deliver differentiated trade ideas, pricing, and market commentary to clients, tailored to their mandates and regulatory environment

Be accountable for the full trade lifecycle: idea generation, pricing, execution, and post-trade follow-up

Maintain close dialogue with trading desks and global product partners to ensure best-in-class client servicing

Maintain rigorous compliance standards, ensuring all client activity adheres to BBVA’s risk, conduct, and regulatory frameworks

Contribute to daily and weekly market content focused on Japan and broader macro themes

Support the team in identifying and addressing structural or technological improvements to enhance the client experience

Qualification & Experience

University degree, ideally in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline

10+ years of experience in fixed income or macro sales, with a clear focus on Japanese financial institutions

Demonstrated success in revenue production and wallet penetration

Strong knowledge of fixed income markets, including rates, FX, repo/SFTs, and credit

Portable client relationships across the Japanese institutional landscape – particularly Tier 1 banks, lifers, regional banks, and investment managers

Fluency in Japanese and English (written and spoken) is essential

Knowledge & Skills

Experience using key markets platforms: Bloomberg, Reuters FXT/Eikon, FXall, etc

A high degree of competence with Microsoft Office and/or Google Enterprise software

Capable of navigating large data sets & distilling insights

An understanding of derivatives & securities financing documentation, experience in the life cycle of a negotiation welcomed

Other Skills (e.g. Interpersonal, Communication etc)
