The Opportunity:

This early career role offers hands-on experience in both Sales and Design within our Corrugated Packaging operations. As an intern, you’ll learn how customer requirements translate into high-performing packaging and display solutions—from discovery and quoting through concepting, prototyping, testing, and delivery. You’ll collaborate with Sales, Design, Operations, and Customer Service to support revenue growth and solution quality.


How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock:

Customer Discovery & Support: Participate in customer calls, plant visits, and discovery sessions; capture requirements and assist with proposals, quotes, and bid responses.Design Collaboration: Support concept development and structural/graphic design tasks (e.g., dielines, CAD layouts, samples) to deliver cost-effective, sustainable solutions.Prototype & Testing: Assist in building samples and coordinating performance tests (compression, ISTA, transit, shelf readiness) with design labs and operations.Data & Documentation: Maintain accurate CRM records and project documentation; prepare customer-ready presentation materials.Cross-Functional Execution: Coordinate with estimating, production planning, and supply chain to ensure accurate specs and timely delivery.Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas to reduce waste, improve manufacturability, and enhance customer experience; support cost-out and sustainability initiatives.


What You Need to Succeed:

Candidate must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program, preferably studying Packaging Engineering and/or related disciplinesStrong interest in packaging design and customer engagement.Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate effectively.Familiarity with CAD tools and design principles is a plus.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
