Position Summary
The Growth Enablement Team (GET) is a robust sales support team with the goals of improving sales experiences, efficiency, and win rates. GET provides support across several key pillars: sales education programming; sales technology, reporting, and analytics; sales prospecting; sales opportunity support (RFPs, orals); and sales asset content and visual design. This remote team consists of US-, Canada- and India-based team members that support all industries and capabilities within Huron.
Huron is seeking a Data Governance Manager to lead sales data governance and data quality initiatives across our internal CRM and analytics ecosystem, with a primary focus on Salesforce, our enterprise data lakehouse, and BI tools. This role will define and operationalize the policies, standards, controls, and change management that ensure opportunity, account, contact, lead, case, pipeline and forecast data are trustworthy, consistent, secure, and ready for reporting. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience driving CRM-centered governance with stakeholders across Sales/Revenue Operations, Marketing, IT, and Finance functions, and is comfortable implementing practical controls, tooling, and measurable outcomes (e.g., pipeline hygiene, duplicate reduction, and improved forecast accuracy).

Responsibilities
The Data Governance Associate Manager owns end-to-end sales data governance, ensuring data quality, consistency, privacy, and compliance across Salesforce, analytics, and downstream systems. They partner cross-functionally with Growth Enablement, IT, Analytics, Sales Operations, and Risk to define standards, drive adoption, resolve data issues, and deliver trusted sales data that enables effective decision-making and growth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Accountability & Cross-Functional Influence: Hold end-to-end accountability for sales data governance objectives and outcomes. Drive prioritization and execution of governance initiatives by influencing and partnering with IT teams (Data/Analytics Engineering, Salesforce Platform), Sales Operations, data product owners, and business stakeholders—without direct reporting authority. Establish credibility through expertise, measurable results, and stakeholder alignment.

• Governance Framework & Policies: Implement and operationalize data governance policies, standards, and procedures within the sales data domain (e.g., data classification, retention, access, quality, lineage, and metadata standards). Partner with Legal, Privacy, Information Security, and IT architects to translate corporate policies into practical controls, processes, and documentation for Salesforce and sales analytics systems. Ensure sales data practices remain compliant with enterprise requirements.

• Sales Data Domains & Taxonomy: Own the enterprise definitions and controlled vocabularies for opportunity stages and stage-exit criteria, lead source/win/loss data, product/offering taxonomy, account data and hierarchies, contact personas/roles, growth enablement team case records and other sales classifications. Maintain the business glossary and ensure changes flow through salesforce data management and release management.

• Operating Model & Stewardship: Stand up and mature the sales data ownership model (data owners/stewards/custodians), RACI definitions, and working rhythms (e.g., Sales Data/Analytics Committee, domain working groups). Partner closely with Growth Enablement and Salesforce Operations, the Salesforce IT platform team, Marketing Operations, Finance, and Marketing/Sales Analytics leaders to resolve issues and drive decisions.

• Data Quality Management: Define and operationalize DQ rules for CRM objects (Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Products/Offerings, Activities/Tasks, Cases). Establish profiling and monitoring for completeness, conformity, validity, deduplication/matching, hierarchy integrity, stage aging, and activity hygiene. Run issue triage/root-cause analysis and drive remediation with system/process owners; report DQ KPIs and SLAs.

• Metadata, Glossary & Lineage: Implement and govern the enterprise business glossary, technical metadata, and end-to-end linkage from Salesforce through integration into the data lakehouse (Databricks), Workday (ERP) and BI (CRMA/Power BI). Document certified datasets, canonical models, and transformations used in sales reporting and forecasting.

• Master & Reference Data Governance: Define and enforce client/account and contact mastering (golden record), de-duplication/matching rules (e.g., Salesforce matching rules, third-party enrichment), survivorship, and reference data lifecycles. Govern account hierarchies, parent-child relationships, and account team assignments.

• Privacy, Risk & Compliance: Partner with privacy, risk, and compliance teams to support the embedding of privacy-by-design principles for sales and marketing data across the global enterprise. Collaborate to ensure alignment with GDPR, DPDP Act 2023 (India), and other regional requirements, including areas such as consent management, purpose limitation, unsubscribe/suppression lists, roles/permissions, retention, breach response, and records of processing for contact data.

• Access & Security Controls: Work closely with security and platform teams to contribute to defining and refining role- and attribute-based access policies for sensitive sales data. Partner in shaping governance for Salesforce sharing/visibility models, field-level security, Shield configurations, and related controls, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.

• Tooling & Enablement: Evaluate, propose, implement and administer governance tooling (e.g., ZoomInfo, Databricks Unity Catalog, metadata scanners, DQ/observability platforms), into Salesforce, Salesforce CRM Analytics (CRMA – Analytics Studio), and Power BI. Create standards, templates, and playbooks; coach sales data stewards and system owners.

• Change Management & Training: In partnership with Salesforce Operations and IT Salesforce Support, build adoption plans, training content, and communications tailored to sellers, sales ops, and marketing users (e.g., stage definitions, data entry standards, required fields, activity logging). Drive behavior change and policy adherence through enablement and reinforcement.

• Metrics & Reporting: Define and publish governance success metrics specific to sales data: DQ scorecards by object, duplicate rate, catalog/glossary coverage, stage aging and hygiene, activity logging completeness, forecast/baseline variance, and policy exceptions. Provide transparency to leadership via dashboards and periodic reviews.

• Program/Project Delivery: Maintain the sales data governance roadmap and backlog; run initiatives using Agile/iterative approaches (e.g., dedupe waves, stage taxonomy rollout, territory realignments). Manage vendors and budgets as needed. Produce clear documentation of policies, processes, and architectural decisions.

Position Requirements
The role requires strong hands-on experience in data governance, data management, or data quality, with demonstrated expertise governing Salesforce and sales analytics data in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of governance frameworks, metadata, privacy and security requirements, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive standards, adoption, and measurable outcomes.
Key Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Analytics, or related field.
• 7+ years of combined experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or metadata management, including 2+ years leading governance initiatives or steward networks.
• Hands-on experience operationalizing governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK/DCAM concepts) and implementing policies, standards, and controls in enterprise environments, especially those centered on CRM and sales analytics.
• Practical experience with data governance tooling (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, Collibra, Informatica Axon/EDC/IDQ, Alation or similar) and data security platforms (e.g., Cyera, Privacera, BigID); ability to drive metadata ingestion, business glossary management, data lineage, data quality monitoring, and policy enforcement across CRM and analytics ecosystems.
• Salesforce expertise (required): Demonstrated experience governing data in Salesforce (e.g., Sales/Service Cloud and/or Data Cloud), including data model & metadata standards, sharing & visibility (RBAC/ABAC), Shield/field-level security, validation rules, integration patterns, and change management across orgs/sandboxes.
• Experience with sales data lifecycles (lead → MQL/SQL → opportunity → quote/CPQ → order/booking/billing), pipeline management, forecasting processes, and RevOps metrics.
• Proficiency with SQL and data modeling concepts; familiarity with common data integration patterns and lineage capture across cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP; Snowflake/Databricks/BigQuery) and CRM-to-warehouse/BI pipelines.
• Working knowledge of privacy and security requirements across global jurisdictions (e.g., GDPR, DPDP Act 2023 in India), and of access control best practices.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive cross-functional outcomes.

Preferred Skills
• Relevant certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP, DCAM, Collibra Ranger/Administrator, Informatica Axon/EDC/IDQ, CIPP/E or privacy certifications).
• Experience with BI/analytics platforms is a plus—especially Microsoft Power BI and Salesforce CRM Analytics (CRMA/Salesforce Analytics Studio)—including RLS/OLS, semantic models, certified datasets/dashboards, and usage governance.
• Additional pluses: experience with Databricks, Salesforce Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud/Pardot, third-party data enrichment providers, and ERP (Workday)/CPQ/Finance integrations affecting sales data.
• Experience establishing enterprise glossaries, data domains, stewardship models, and DQ scorecards in a multi-business-unit or professional services organization.

• Experience with Agile delivery and tools (e.g., Azure) and creating enablement materials (playbooks, training decks, quick-reference guides).
