Safety Specialist
Job Title: Safety SpecialistJob Description

In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring safety and health compliance with applicable regulations and existing client and company standards. You will contribute to an environment where the health and safety of employees, clients, and contractors is prioritized and preserved. You will have the authority, responsibility, and expertise to develop and implement site-specific Safety Plans, monitor compliance, and audit safety performance at complex project sites.

ResponsibilitiesRoutinely monitor safety performance to ensure compliance with company and client practices, procedures, regulatory requirements, and additional owner expectations.Interface with and support the construction management team by providing current safety performance data, including trends, incident management, metrics, and other key information to support informed decision-making.Facilitate safety communications, including meetings and notices, to ensure relevant information is shared on-site and with the corporate safety department.Conduct regular site safety walks with the client’s safety management representative.Participate in site safety walks with clients and other contractors as appropriate.Immediately address any observed non-compliance or non-conformance and escalate to appropriate stakeholders.Participate in progress and schedule client trainings as requested.Evaluate and audit the Site-Specific Safety Plan for conformance to client and regulatory requirements.Ensure operational safety requirements are understood and followed.Support client safety initiatives as requested.Ensure appropriate PPE is available, properly used, maintained, and sanitized.Verify communication systems are in place and functioning.Participate in daily safety briefings with the project field team.Oversee maintenance of safety equipment and establish decontamination procedures.Exercise authority to stop work when imminent safety hazards or dangerous conditions are identified.Resume work only after receiving verification from the client’s safety representative following a stop-work order.Conduct safety observations and audits.Investigate and resolve incidents and near misses.Maintain records including inspections, monitoring activities, incident and near miss investigations, and other documentation.Complete and maintain required training.Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.Essential SkillsSafety, OSHA, Construction, OSHA 30, Safety training, EHS, Site safetyBachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or related discipline preferred.3 to 5 years of full-time experience in project health & safety support and leadership.5 to 10 years of experience in construction project safety and health leadership on capital projects will be considered in lieu of degree.OSHA 30 Experience, OSHA 500, Safety management, Construction safety, Health & safetyAdditional Skills & QualificationsData center experienceOSHA 510 preferredWork Environment

Most of the data center work is in Southern Wisconsin. Candidates will be based out of the Deforest office, with the majority of their time spent traveling to these data centers. Projects are multi-year long and may involve traveling to Port Washington. The role offers stability with no layoffs in 100 years, growth opportunities across multiple markets, and excellent health insurance and benefits. Depending on the project and client, the company provides support including a company credit card, lodging, a company vehicle, and a gas card. The role includes 15 days of PTO plus paid holidays and offers a salaried role with potential overtime pay.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Washington, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
