Job Description
As a Safety Specialist, you will assist the site leadership team in coordinating and implementing Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs. You will play a vital role in promoting a proactive safety culture to reduce injuries and minimize employee exposure to potential risks. Your responsibilities will include conducting awareness and authorized training for all employees, leading and facilitating the site EHS safety committee, and developing and maintaining job safety and hazard assessments.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in the coordination and implementation of EHS programs as directed by the leadership team and EHS Manager.Promote a proactive safety culture to reduce injuries and reduce employee exposure to potential risks.Conduct awareness and authorized training for all employees.Lead and facilitate the site EHS safety committee.Develop and maintain job safety/hazard assessments and environmental impact assessments.Assist in the development, maintenance, implementation, and annual review of EHS policies, procedures, and responsibilities.Partner with department managers, supervisors, and employees to implement creative approaches to improve safety and minimize liability.Evaluate new materials and material use to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Prepare and coordinate EHS training, including preparing materials for computer-based training and safety huddles.Conduct EHS compliance assessments, including preparation of assessment reports and manage site improvement plans.Essential SkillsStrong understanding of safety and environmental regulations.Experience in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency in safety training and human resources principles.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field.1-3 years of experience in EHS-related field.Experience in flexible packaging or web coating environments is strongly desired.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
