Summary: The Safety & Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for team members, visitors, and guests. This position involves carrying out safety and security protocols and procedures. The Safety and Security Officer is an unarmed position who patrols designated areas and respond to security incidents in a prompt and professional manner. Additionally, this position conducts safety inspections and collaborates with other departments to enhance overall safety measures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Exemplifies a +1 Service attitude when engaging with fellow team members, guests, and outside agencies by addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
Conducts regular patrols and safety inspections of assigned areas to deter unauthorized access and ensure a safe and secure environment. Monitors and controls access at building entrances and vehicle gates.
Effectively uses computers, security systems, cameras, access controls, and communication devices to monitor alarms and security footage.
Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms. Takes appropriate action to mitigate risks and ensures the safety of individuals and assets.
Reports and documents incidents accurately and promptly.
Assists in the investigation of security incidents and maintains accurate records of security incidents, safety inspections, and other relevant activities. Prepare reports and documentation as required.
Provides assistance and direction to visitors and team members.
Offers a visible presence to deter potential security threats.
Enforces company policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with legal regulations and safety standards.
Maintains clear and effective communication with team members and supervisors in person, over the phone, or via a 2-way radio device.
Addresses safety and security concerns by collaborating with hotel leadership, maintenance, front office, and external security and emergency responders. Fosters positive, cooperative relationships and coordinates communication and activities across all departments.
Completes required training and certifications.
Participates in regular security briefings and meetings.
Performs other duties as required and/or assigned
Required Qualifications:
18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
Ability to pay attention to detail and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a strong sense of responsibility.
Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
