Safety Manager - Construction Project

Job Description

This role involves overseeing safety procedures and standards for a renovation project at the Hart Senate Office Building. The project includes both interior and exterior renovations, such as relocating large sculptural elements and constructing a new steel vestibule.

Responsibilities

Determine appropriate safety equipment and safe work practices for subcontractors and subordinates, adhering to OSHA, MIOSHA, and corporate standards.Examine equipment for purchase and proposed facility modifications to ensure they meet safety requirements, recommending necessary modifications.Provide necessary safety documentation and resources to each jobsite during mobilization, including start-up, postings, signage, and safety programs.Chair regular safety meetings and ensure coordination of safety training and motivational campaigns in line with company policies.Stay updated on OSHA, MIOSHA, and corporate safety regulations, pursuing ongoing educational and training opportunities.Coordinate and plan employee training programs to develop safety leadership skills among project team members.Develop and communicate company safety policies, practices, resources, and tools, ensuring compliance through audits.Advise project teams on safety concerns, recommendations, and problems.Establish evaluation programs and participate in annual safety reviews of each superintendent.Perform and supervise periodic inspections of job sites, equipment, and work conditions to ensure compliance with safety and health standards.Observe workers and work practices to ensure use of protective devices and safe procedures.Investigate unsafe conditions and ensure they are permanently remedied.Conduct structured safety evaluations of project sites and review safety leadership actions with project teams.Review superintendents' weekly safety reports and address any concerns.Initiate and conduct accident investigations, compiling data for effective accident prevention and loss avoidance.Act as a liaison with government agencies, representing management in inquiries and inspections to correct deficiencies and minimize citations.Manage, coach, and mentor Safety Managers in all aspects of their job scope.

Essential Skills

Experience in quality control and OSHA compliance.Proficient in safety regulations related to construction.Experience with EM 385 certifications.Vertical construction experience.Scaffolding experience is highly preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

QC Certification (assistance available for candidates without it).General Contractor (GC) experience preferred but open to Owner's Representative candidates.Federal or institutional experience preferred.

Work Environment

This position requires working on a construction site during the night shift from 9 PM to 7 AM. The environment emphasizes the use of innovative and cutting-edge technology, fostering a culture where everyone thinks like an owner due to the company's ESOP structure.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
