We are seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist to uphold and advance the safety standards of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will coordinate and implement safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with site-specific and client-specific safety requirements. Responsibilities
+ Implement the project's safety guidelines, site-specific safety plans, and any client-specific safety requirements.
+ Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure availability of necessary safety signage and PPE.
+ Confirm completion of required safety orientation training for all on-site personnel.
+ Gather and organize safety documentation from subcontractors and trade partners.
+ Conduct at least one daily safety audit using the designated digital platform, including annotated photos.
+ Share audit findings and corrective actions with the project team to ensure visibility and timely resolution.
+ Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports per week.
+ Engage with crews and monitor safety practices, spending 60–70% of time in the field.
+ Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, and other relevant meetings.
+ Lead or support weekly all-hands safety meetings, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking.
+ Spot-check safety documentation during site visits.
+ Review and track various safety plans and permits.
+ Notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near-misses immediately.
+ Assist in incident investigations and ensure a 'Lessons Learned' summary is created for each incident or near miss.
+ Conduct site-specific safety orientations for trade partners and maintain regular communication with subcontractor safety representatives.
+ Participate in planning meetings for high-risk activities.
+ Maintain clear and frequent communication with the project team and trade partners.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety.
+ Minimum 3 years of management experience.
+ Professional certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHT).
+ Current 30-hour OSHA Certificate or higher.
+ At least 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in data center construction projects is highly preferred.
+ Experience in commercial building construction will be considered.
+ Proven ability to support project schedules.
+ GSP, CSP, ASP certifications.
+ Punctuality and reliability in aligning with project schedules.
Work Environment
This position requires working onsite in Itasca, IL, with a typical workweek of 40-50 hours. Start times may vary, generally beginning at 5:00 or 6:00 AM, requiring flexibility to accommodate extended hours if necessary. The work environment consists of 70% fieldwork and 30% office work, necessitating daily onsite presence. The role demands maintaining a clear and responsive communication channel with the project team and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
