Roller Operator
Job Title: Compaction Equipment OperatorJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Compaction Equipment Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will operate compaction equipment on active construction sites and support the grade crew as needed. This role requires the ability to work both inside and outside the cab to assist with site tasks and ensure proper compaction quality.

ResponsibilitiesOperate rollers to compact soil, gravel, asphalt, and other materials to meet project density requirements.Assist in achieving smooth, even surfaces by coordinating with dozer, grader, and excavator operators.Help prepare work areas by compacting subgrade, backfill, and base layers for construction activities.Ensure proper moisture levels and compaction techniques to achieve specified densities.Perform daily inspections, minor repairs, and routine maintenance to keep the roller in safe, reliable working condition.Essential SkillsExperience with paving, roller, and equipment operation.Minimum of 1 year experience as an equipment operator.Minimum 6 months experience as a roller operator.Must be comfortable occasionally working outside the cab.Additional Skills & QualificationsHeavy Equipment Operator certification.Experience with fine grading, bulldozer, and heavy equipment operation.Familiarity with vibratory rollers.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work on average 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm, depending on weather conditions. Flexibility to work some weekends is required. Work across 15 job sites in the Richmond Metro area, with the farthest site located 45 minutes from Chester, VA.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
