ICU CCU, Critical Care is a 10-bed unit providing critical care for patients with both medical and surgical diagnosis. Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards. Must possess ability to supervise LPNs, CNAs, Techs, Unit Secretaries, and Clinical students. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives 

Job Description:

RN CCU-Full-Time

Description: 

Complete and document initial and ongoing patient assessments, including changes in status and critical events. 

Participate in rounding, provide thorough handoff reports, and update the plan of care for each shift. 

Set measurable goals, evaluate patient responses, and adjust interventions as needed. 

Develop individualized education plans and support discharge planning using hospital and community resources. 

Use nursing diagnoses to guide care and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team. 

Communicate patient status clearly to staff and physicians, document care accurately and completely. 

Provide patient care following hospital policies, procedures, and physician orders. 

Perform clinical procedures correctly, respond to emergencies, and implement patient/family education. 

Assist staff, direct work assignments, facilitate patient flow, and monitor policy compliance. 

Delegate tasks appropriately and demonstrate sound judgment in urgent situations using SBAR and ARCC. 

Promote patient safety, address unmet patient needs, and maintain strong attention to detail. 

Prioritize patient care, organize workload, and provide concise, accurate reporting. 

Serve as a role model, resource, and support for team members; participate in orientation of new staff. 

Promote teamwork, accountability, and engagement in shared governance and professional development. 

Attend required safety trainings, complete mandatory education, and maintain licensure and continuing education. 

Follow all regulatory requirements and promptly report any compliance concerns 

 

Requirements: 

Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.  

Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.  

ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.  

Basic Life Support Required. New employees requiring CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association should receive (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.
