Summary of Responsibilities
As a Risk Control Assurer Manager and part of the first line of defense at BBVA Brazil, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Internal Control Framework for non-financial risks, in alignment with the model established by the BBVA Group. This role involves ensuring adherence to quality standards and the effective execution of control functions across Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) activities, including Global Markets, Global Transaction Banking, Investment Banking & Finance, as well as corporate processes within the subsidiary.
Main responsibilities and functions
Develop and maintain a control framework to mitigate identified operational risks, ensuring alignment with corporate procedures and tools.
Perform supervisory monitoring and testing of control governance across CIB activities at BBVA Brazil, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable Brazilian regulations.
Contribute to the Operational Risk and Internal Control Committee by presenting quarterly reports on control testing results, identified issues, findings, and associated action plans to CIB management and committee members.
Design, implement, and execute Key Risk Indicators to monitor risk exposure.
Conduct follow-ups and ensure timely closure of Internal Audit recommendations and Regulatory Exam findings, supporting continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Management Model.
Monitor and report operational losses to management and the Operational Risk and Internal Control Committee.
Prepare and deliver internal risk and control reports, ensuring accurate updates to internal reporting systems.
Track and follow up on the status of identified issues to ensure full remediation.
Collaborate with business units and other stakeholders to review internal controls, policies, procedures, and processes that mitigate operational risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Law or a related field.
Master's degree or certifications related to financial markets, risk and/or compliance will be valuable.
Work experience
Approximately 8 years of relevant professional experience in Operational Risk, Internal Control, Internal Audit, or Compliance within banking, financial institutions, or consulting/audit firms focused on the financial sector.
Knowledge of the industry, products, activities and operations of the CIB business.
Experience in dealing with regulators, internal and external auditors.
Solid understanding of the regulatory and legal framework, including key internal control functions (e.g., Operational Risk, Volcker Rule, BSA/AML).
