The department of Risk Management has an exciting opportunity for a full-time healthcare Risk Analyst 1. The Risk Analyst 1 (H) supports risk management activities under the supervision of a licensed or certified Health Care Risk Manager. This role assists in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to patient safety and regulatory compliance across clinical and operational areas. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS + Conducts risk assessments and safety audits in assigned departments. + Analyzes incident reports and claims to identify trends and emerging risks. + Prepares basic reports for leadership and regulatory bodies. + Assists in developing and implementing risk management policies and protocols. + Supports staff training on risk management and patient safety procedures. + Participates in investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses. + Other duties as assigned. + Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions + Supports event and incident reporting processes in accordance with organizational, state, and federal requirements, including accurate documentation and timely escalation. + Assists senior risk staff with medical record review and basic analysis of patient safety events across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care settings. + Participates in investigations and follow-up activities related to adverse events, near misses, and patient grievances under direct supervision. + Assists with data collection, entry, and preliminary trending related to patient safety, quality, and risk prevention activities. + Collaborates with interdisciplinary partners, including Quality, Patient Safety, Patient Experience, and clinical staff, to support assigned risk management initiatives. + Supports departmental education and training efforts related to risk reporting processes and patient safety awareness. + Performs administrative and operational support tasks necessary to maintain effective risk management workflows. + Assists on the Patient Safety Awareness Week. + Performs additional duties as assigned in support of departmental operations. CORE QUALIFICATIONS + Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required + Interest in pursuing professional development in healthcare risk management, patient safety, or quality improvement is encouraged. + Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: + Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands. + Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. + Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. + Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
