Job Title: Rigger 1st ClassJob Description

The Rigger 1st Class is responsible for accomplishing tasks in accordance with work specifications safely and with the highest quality, in a professional manner. The ideal candidate will also have light electrician or ship fitting experience to assist when rigging work is not available.

ResponsibilitiesAssist other trades in removing equipment and structural components using lifting equipment such as chain falls, cranes, shackles, and slings.Meet the requirements of an Outside Machinist.Communicate with crane operators via hand signals or voice radios.Carry and use chain falls effectively.Inspect, use, and store wire rope pennants and slings properly.Determine load weight and center of gravity when rigging equipment.Select the correct rigging equipment for various tasks.Utilize complex multipoint suspension techniques to maneuver loads and move objects from heights of 50ft to 70ft.Tie knots such as bowlines, square knots, and hitches, and understand their uses.Estimate the weight needed for weight tests on different types of ship equipment.Carry a full tool bag and assist in removing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, and reinstalling ship equipment.Work at heights of 20 ft. or higher.Stand, sit, walk, kneel, and crawl for extended periods.Adhere to company safety policies and industrial safety requirements.Access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.Essential SkillsQualified rigger level one and qualified signal person - OSHA 1926 Subpart CC Certified.Advanced knowledge of crane signals and terminologies.Minimum of 8-12 years of shipyard rigging experience.Basic tool sizes ranging from 1/4\" to 1 ¼\".Additional Skills & QualificationsRigger, Boatswain, Mate, Navy certifications.Experience in planning, laying out, assembling, repairing, and installing complex weight handling gear and rigging.Ability to move ship’s engines, generators, turbines, pumps, boilers, and delicate electronic equipment.Coordination and arrangement of work for several trades based on technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work involves evening and weekend hours. Must be able to work at heights of 20 ft. or higher and access various work locations, including government and private shipyards. Adherence to safety policies and industrial safety requirements is mandatory.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
