As a Category Assistant Store Manager at North 40, you’ll help lead the customer experience on the sales floor, ensuring our customers feel welcomed, supported, and well taken care of. This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads with optimism, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves alongside the team. You’ll be responsible for driving sales, maintaining store standards, protecting company assets, and leading, coaching, and developing team members. Success in this role also means understanding and connecting with the local community and adapting to the needs of our customers. A working knowledge of outdoor recreation, farm and ranch, animal health, tools, and hardware is a strong plus. + Willingness to share credit, work with others in a team environment, and define success collectively rather than individually + Ability to take initiative, embrace change, and learn new things + Drive to be dependable, and to perform well against the expectations of the role + Ability to work independently or in a group setting + Committed to supplying our North 40 guests with phenomenal customer service + Good communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with individuals regularly + Ability to multitask and prioritize + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining detailed and focused + Working knowledge of sporting goods categories (fishing, hunting, camping, etc.) + Previous retail leadership experience preferred + Have an unquenchable passion and knowledge for the retail industry and all things outdoors, clothing, footwear, and clothing accessories. + Possess extensive knowledge/experience in the clothing industry + Ability to work well with others, lead, motivate and empower a team + Sales experience, merchandising, and computer skills a plus + Committed to providing feedback, developing others, and making decisions under ambiguity + A willingness to lead by example + Resolving team issues in a timely and professional manner + Ability to delegate and assign tasks appropriately + Skilled in leadership, sales generation, strategic planning, business acumen, time management and general retail software proficiency + Willingness to relocate if needed + Understanding of correct lifting and loading techniques.  Physical ability to lift and carry 0-15 lbs. continuously, 15-50 lbs. frequently, and 50-55 lbs. occasionally, and team lift anything over 55 lbs.  Spending 100% of work time on your feet, including use of ladders, rolling staircases and pallet jacks.
