Acting as a resource to the interdisciplinary team, the Respiratory manager is a registered respiratory therapist who works in conjunction with the system director of cardiopulmonary and sleep services to promote a positive work environment and maintain daily operations of their assigned departments. The Respiratory manager holds staff accountable for the delivery of quality care and services through effective communication, observation, and measurement of specific interventions\/practices and their associated outcomes. The Respiratory manager works to achieve clinical, financial, material, and human resource goals as they pertain across the Cayuga Health Respiratory departments. The respiratory manager plays a pivotal role in staff retention, recruitment, mentoring, patient and staff satisfaction as well as alignment of standards and processes.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nAccomplish respiratory human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, educating, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; communicating job expectations, adhere to policies and procedures.\nFosters an environment that promotes a spirit of inquiry and continuous quality improvement. Assists in the design and implementation of programs which evaluate the efficacy of treatment across the system.\nMonitor and assure the compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.\nPromote, monitor and implement the concepts of quality management and evidence based practice. Monitor service areas, recommend approaches for improvement activities, design new processes, collect and measure data, review and report performance over time, improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation and reassess continuously.\nProvide programmatic leadership of the clinical component of assigned areas to ensure quality patient care outcomes. \nDevelop, implement goals, standards, policies, educational programs, procedures and practices of clinical care in alignment with strategic plan. \nManage staffing and scheduling processing including the distribution of present and future FTE's. Builds sustainable pools of cross trained staff to float between hospitals.\nAssist in preparation, coordination, and evaluation of annual fiscal operation and capital equipment budgets for assigned areas.\nMonitor and respond to situations that affect daily operations.\nAssist in the development and implementation of departmental retention strategies, recruitment, selection, and discipline of department personnel. Participate in the development, coaching, motivation, and evaluation of department personnel.\nFacilitate employee understanding of job requirements. Assure availability of appropriate education to develop and maintain staff competence.\nRole models the philosophy of person-centered care. Establish a compassionate environment. Daily patient\/family rounding. Handle patient complaints\/other issues as they arise.\nMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.\nCollaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff.\nPerforms both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with Departmental policy. Operates RCS equipment in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines and departmental procedures. Maintains equipment in good working order.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nEducation: Graduate from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. BS degree preferred.\nExperience: Minimum of two years of progressive experience as a Respiratory Therapist. Supervisory and\/or Management experience strongly preferred.\nLicensure: Active New York Respiratory Therapist License (RRT)\nCertifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP

Preferred Skills and Experience:\n\nStrong Oral and Written Communication Skills\nStrong Attention to Detail\nProficiency with Computers and Data Entry\nStrong team player willing to learn new skills, systems and help colleagues when needed\nEPIC Healthcare System experience strongly preferred\n\n

Physical Requirements:\n\nAble to stand for long periods of time; requires manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination. Able to perform light lifting, up to 40 pounds.\n\n

Location and Travel Requirements:\n\nLocation: This position supports two locations within our Healthcare System: Cayuga Medical Center at 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850 and Schuyler Hospital at 220 Steuben St, Montour Falls, NY 14865. The position will be based out of Cayuga Medical Center, but the individual in this role must have the ability to sit onsite at Schuyler Hospital as needed to support staff and operational needs (35 minutes from one location to the other). \nShift: Full-Time Days FLEX. The individual in this role must work onsite and be flexible to work alternative shifts should department, staff and\/or patient needs change.\nTravel: 10%-25% Local area travel between facilities may be required as required to support department needs\n\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n\nStandard Rate of $101,566.40 to $125,361.60 per year plus benefits\n\n
