Night (United States of America)Job Summary:\rResponsible for administering and managing all forms of respiratory care in accordance with physician orders and current\rclinical standards. The Respiratory Therapist will function as a workgroup leader and unit coordinator administering and\rrecommending care per protocol for the assigned unit.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rActs as Care Coordinator for Assigned unit. Develops, administers, evaluates and modifies Respiratory Patient\rCare Plans in the acute care setting, using evidence-based medicine, protocols and clinical practice guidelines\rby communicating, collaborating and coordinating with physicians, nurses and other clinicians. Demonstrates\rcompetency in invasive and non-invasive critical procedures and equipment. Serves as a respiratory\rconsultant to all hospital service lines. Attends daily patient rounds.\rDemonstrates knowledge of respiratory medications and pharmacologic interactions. Cites AARC guidelines\rand remains current in the field of Respiratory Care. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical chemistries to\rinclude ABGs and electrolytes and assists others in the application of results. Is a member of the Rapid\rResponse and Resuscitation Teams and skillfully establishes and maintains artificial airways in emergencies.\rCompetent in use and quality control for all point of care analyzers.\rParticipates and facilitates quality improvement projects. Facilitates patient discharge to home and provides\rpatient and family education. Provides clinical assistance in the orientation of new employees and students\ron clinical rotation. Provides education to all clinical team members to include physicians and nurses at the\rbedside and informal classroom setting. Maintains Basic and Advanced certifications as appropriate to\rassigned areas such as BLS, ACLS, FCCS, PALS, and NRP.\rParticipates in clinical trials and research activities. Demonstrates the ability to resolve difficult situations with\rfinesse and skill. Has the ability to prioritize and triage delivery of care during times of high acuity.\rDemonstrates good oral and written communication skills and assures all documentation is accurate, legible\rand in accordance with hospital policy. Skilled in-Patient Family-Centered Care.\rUses hospital information systems skillfully and complies with security policies. Follows proper handoff\rprocedure for all transferred patients to assure coordination of care. Processes all associated clinical\requipment and devices to industry standards and performs routine and basic maintenance with associated\rdocumentation. Participates in patient transports both in and outside the hospital.
