Resident IT Engineer
Job Description Day to Day: This Resident Engineer will serve as the primary technical liaison between Forvia and the OEM customer, embedded onsite to support product development, issue resolution, and launch activities. They will attend daily stand-ups, track open issues, and ensure timely communication between Forvia’s internal engineering teams and the customer. The role involves reviewing and validating design changes, supporting testing and validation efforts, and driving resolution of quality concerns. The Resident Engineer will be expected to represent Forvia professionally, advocate for engineering solutions, and ensure alignment with customer expectations throughout the program lifecycle. Compensation: $35/hr to $40/hr Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401K retirement account access with employer matching. This has not been approved The timeline they are looking at is in a couple of weeks One year contract - Renew based off of performance Must-haves: Day to day: Company: Forvia Position: Resident Engineer Location: Onsite at OEM (Metro Detroit Area) Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent experience) 3–5 years of experience in automotive engineering, ideally in a resident or liaison role Strong understanding of OEM processes, product development cycles, and launch support Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA, NX, or similar) Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and PPAP documentation Plusses: Prior experience working directly with Ford or other major OEMs Familiarity with Forvia product lines (interiors, seating, electronics, etc.) Knowledge of APQP and quality systems Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/German) is a plus for global coordination Day to Day: This Resident Engineer will serve as the primary technical liaison between Forvia and the OEM customer, embedded onsite to support product development, issue resolution, and launch activities.
