Job Summary:\rThe Resident Assistant (RA) participates in the care of Atherton Place Personal Care Residents from a Resident Centered Approach. The RA assists Personal Care Residents with activities of daily living according to State regulations; assures a protective and watchful oversight; remains aware of residents' needs, whereabouts, state of health and daily functioning; and interacts with residents and families. Activities of daily living include, but are not limited to, medication assistance/administration, bathing, dressing, and grooming. Willing to learn additional skills as needed.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rMedication Assistance/Administration per State regulations\r* Storing medication and taking to resident at the prescribed times.\r* Proper documentation of medication assistance.\r* Interacting with doctors offices and pharmacies to ensure proper and safe medication assistance.\r* Ability to maintain focus on medication assistance while dealing with outside distractions.\r* Be aware and observe for any side effects of medications.\rMaintain watchful oversight of residents.\r* Respond to and documentation of resident issues as they arise. (ie: falls, medical emergency, etc.)\r* Observe and interact with residents on a daily basis.\r* Interact with and keep famiies/sponsor informed of resident issues.\r* Be aware of resident whereabouts.\r* Interact with supportative agencies (ie: sitters, hospice, home health, etc.)\r* Participate in the formation of resident care plans, evaluation of cognitive status and ability to self- administer medications.\rAssist residents with ADLs as per resident need.\r* Bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.\r* Maintain an awareness of each residents normal appearance intervene, as appropriate, if a residents state of health appears to be in jeopardy.\r* Maintain apartment in sanitary and clutter free condition.\r* Assist with resident transfers (ie: chair to bed, wheelchair to commode, etc.)\r* Assist with resident laundry.\r* Assist in dining room to serve meals.\r* Assist resident with any needs that may arise, ie: apartment cleanliness, thermostat, tv, light bulbs, toilets, phone calls, etc.\rMaintain State Readiness\r* Ensure that required education is met each year\r* Maintain resident files\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:High School Diploma General or Other / Certificate Nursing\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.CNA - Cert Nurse AssistantAHA-HFA - AHA Heartsaver First Aid or BLS - Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 2 years experience preferred in a similar setting with older adults. Preferred and\rExperience with medication assistance/administration Preferred\rCompletion of nursing assistant program Required\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rGood customer service and communication skills required; demonstrates courteous and positive attitude; must be able to read and write; ability to relate well with teammates, healthcare professionals, residents, and families.\rBasic computer skills with Windows based environment for participation in training and resident documentation.\rCurrent skills in medication assistance/administration or willingness to learn.
