**Job Description** The Division of Medical Genetics is recruiting a Research Technologist 1. The Research Technologist will perform laboratory work in support of Dr. Andre Lieber’s gene therapy research program. This person will perform technical lab procedures including cell culturing, helper-dependent adenovirus production as well as recombinant DNA cloning and analysis. In the context of a P01 subaward, this person will be solely responsible for the production of preclinical garde gene therapy vectors for studies in non-human primates. This is a variable FTE position between 50 to 100% FTE based on ongoing funding. Duties **Perform Investigative** **work: 75%** + Large-scale cell culture; + Helper-dependent adenovirus vector rescue, amplification, purification, characterization; + Perform cell culturing and in vitro assays, immunohistochemistry, FACS sorting and analyses, RNA isolation, RT-PCR; + Preparation of amplicon libraries for next-generation sequencing. + Operate instruments and equipment such as fluorescence microscope, PCR machines, ultracentrifuges, flow cytometry equipment, qPCR machines, etc **Lab** **Documentation: 15%** + Verify adherence to protocols and accuracy of lab studies; + Keep detailed notes from experiments; + Participate in bi-weekly laboratory meetings; **Other duties: 10%** + Prepare laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and equipment for study team; + Demonstrate laboratory protocols to students, volunteers, and others; + Perform related duties as required. **Pay Rate Information** The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for part-time MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified Two years experience as a Laboratory Technician II, or equivalent; OR a Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field of science or technology.
