$47.50 - $71.25The Research Scientist is responsible for conducting basic and clinical translational research for genomics related biomarker discovery for oral and systemic diseases. The individual will use molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology investigation methodologies in bench research. The individual undertakes research studies in areas defined by the Lab Directors or designee. Responsibilities will include all aspects of research from protocol and experimental design, study implementation in the laboratory, data analysis and interpretation, independent grant writing and submission, abstract and manuscript preparation, and presentation at meetings. All work will be conducted with minimum of direct supervision as defined by the director of the laboratory. Experience in biostatistics, bioinformatics, basic and translational research in oral Medicine preferred.
Essential Functions
Performs searches in bioreository, genomic and bioinformatic databases, analyzes data, and prepares presentations.Provides instruction and mentors to residents, post-doctoral fellows, students and research associates on the fundamentals of Oral Medicine Research, evidence-based medicine, research principles, and methodologies.Develops and Performs basic science and clinical translational research projects related, but not limited, to oral medicine, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. Collaborates on projects on the basic and clinical and translational aspects of oral medicineGenerates data quality check, data reports and analysis and writes progress reports.Writes manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.Prepares abstracts and presents research findings at local and national meetings.Conceives, develops, writes, and submits grant funding.Participates in safety and quality assurance activities. physical Requirements
Involves long periods of sitting or standing and some walking. Routine lifting of documents, supplies, equipment, solutions and chemicals required.
Education, Experience and Certifications
MD and/or Ph.D. with at least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral research in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or relevant biomedical fields preferred. Published in respected journals with high report factors preferred.
