Responsibilities include equipment management (installation, maintenance, vendor coordination), regulatory compliance (biosafety, chemical safety, animal use protocols), and liaison with MIT Environmental Health and Safety, facilities, animal care programs, and external vendors. Manages onboarding and offboarding, safety training, inspections, and renovations; assigns oversight of laboratory spaces and equipment; and supervises hazardous waste, gas and liquid nitrogen systems, animal colonies (mouse and zebrafish), and shared laboratory supplies. Find a full job description here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jz76nucd51vzr5zfgjbf1/Research-Laboratory-Operations-Manager.pdf?rlkey=tvsh7l9x3d8dzvwzuzyp8qnqj&dl=0 Job Requirements REQUIRED : Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related technical field, with a minimum of five years of research laboratory experience and three years in a laboratory management role, preferably in a multidisciplinary, bioengineering, or neuroscience environment; experience writing and editing laboratory protocols (animal, biosafety, chemical, and ideally human) and managing projects; strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat or Illustrator; ability to work independently, prioritize and multitask, and oversee daily operations for a research group while collaborating with diverse stakeholders; demonstrated interest in science, innovation, and supporting researchers across varied scientific disciplines; and willingness to be available during nights or weekends for urgent situations. PREFERRED : Degree in veterinary science; knowledge of laboratory animal procedures and AAALAC regulations; familiarity with hazardous waste and laboratory safety practices; experience with documentation; and ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment. 1/9/2026
