A vacancy for the role of RESEARCH TECHNICIAN is available within the laboratory of Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, situated in the Genetics and Aging Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The primary objective of this position is to contribute to groundbreaking research focused on examining peripheral immune cells in the context of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology.

The project entails a comprehensive investigation into the roles of both innate and adaptive immune cells and their influence on various aspects of AD, including cognitive functions, neuronal health, amyloid burdens, glial responses, blood-brain barrier, among others. The experimental approach involves the heavy utilization of AD mouse models, encompassing behavior tests and mouse tissue (brain, meninges, skull, spleen, blood, etc.) harvest and processing. Various techniques and assays will be employed, such as immunohistology (utilizing confocal microscopy and software analysis), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)-based assays, Western blotting, flow cytometry, quantitative RT-PCR, tissue culture techniques, etc.

We are seeking candidates who are passionate, honest, responsible, disciplined, and easygoing, with a strong sense of motivation and a willingness to take on scientific challenges. In addition to performing in vivo and in vitro experiments, the successful candidate will be expected to actively engage in the research environment by reading scientific literature, participating in scientific discussions, and contributing to group meetings.
