Postdoctoral Position – Exosomes, Diabetes, and Angiogenesis; Department of Biochemistry, Wake Forest University School of Medicine – Winston-Salem, NC
The Huang Lab invites applications for a highly motivated and ambitious Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary team investigating the roles of extracellular vesicles (exosomes) in diabetes, angiogenesis, and retinal vascular diseases—with a focus on diabetic retinopathy. Our lab combines cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and proteomic approaches to understand how exosome-mediated signaling shapes vascular and metabolic dysfunction in diabetes. Supported by long-term NIH funding, we offer a stimulating and collaborative research environment with opportunities for career development, authorship in high-impact publications, and mentorship tailored to each scholar’s long-term goals.

Position Highlights
•Engage in innovative projects exploring intercellular communication via exosomes in vascular and retinal pathobiology.
•Work with well-established models of diabetic retinopathy and angiogenesis using advanced molecular and imaging techniques.
•Collaborate with experts in vascular biology, metabolism, and neuroscience across the Wake Forest research community.
•Receive individualized career mentorship, including guidance on grant writing, networking, and transitioning to independence.
•Enjoy access to state-of-the-art core facilities and a supportive, team-driven culture that values curiosity, rigor, and collaboration.

Qualifications
•A recent Ph.D. (within the past 3 years) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
•Background in exosome biology, metabolism, angiogenesis, vascular biology, diabetes, or retinal research is desirable but not required.
•The ideal candidate will be self-driven, creative, and collaborative, with strong communication skills and a passion for scientific discovery.
