Registered Practical Nurse
Applications are now being accepted for a Temporary Full-Time Registered Practical Nurse to work in Perioperative Services. The successful applicant will be required to work Monday-Friday days and afternoons including on call on weekends, holidays, and evenings. The commitment to this position for full-time is 75 hours per bi-weekly pay period. The successful applicant must be able to be at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called in. Please note this is a temporary position scheduled to end on or before April 6, 2026.
**Preference will be given to those currently enrolled in an Operating Room Technician program.**
**Education**
• Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses
• Graduate of an approved Registered Practical Nurse Program
• Has completed O **perating Room Technician Certificate** at Community College level
• Applicants must have and maintain current BCLS, and be able to perform CPR
• Demonstrate a progressive history of continuing education within the specialty
• Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practices in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the regulations of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
**Experience**
• 1 year minimum of experience working in the O.R. is an asset
• Previous experience in a medical/surgical area an asset
**Skills and Ability**
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good problem solving ability within the scope of practice
• Able to deal with crisis situations in a calm, professional manner
• Able to work collaboratively as a team member
The successful applicant will be required to complete the Operating Room Technician Certificate within 12 months of starting the position, with tuition costs covered. A pro-rated repayment will be applicable if the employee voluntarily separates from the department within two (2) years of the completion of the certificate.
