Registered Nurse (RN) SSU/ Observation

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Short Stay (SSU) Observation Unit! This is a full time, night shift in Suffolk, VA.

Hours: 7p to 7a with rotating weekends

Sign On Bonus of up to $20,000 for qualified candidates.

About the Unit
The Observation/Short Stay Unit is an 18-bed department that specializes in observation, post-procedural monitoring, and short-term treatments, including TIA workups, stress tests, and radiology procedures. The maximum stay is typically two days per patient. Registered nurses can expect between 6 and 8 patient discharges per shift, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5 to 1:6. The unit is supported by a highly skilled team of unit coordinators, educators, and a nurse manager. It benefits from low staff turnover and a strong culture of collaboration. Additional PCT staff are available to assist with ambulation and patient care. This well-supported team is ideal for both new graduate nurses and experienced Registered Nurses looking to expand their skills. Education

Students in process of obtaining Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing

Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

Certification/Licensure

BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience
