M Health Fairview is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Same Day Surgery Unit at Northland Medical Center in Princeton, MN. This is a great opportunity for an RN who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Our Same Day Surgery nurses deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients before and after same-day procedures, as well as surgeries occurring prior to or during hospital admission. You’ll play a key role in supporting patients and families through pre-operative phone calls, in-person care during their stay, and post-operative follow-up calls, providing both emotional support and clear education every step of the way.
With a high-turnover, short-stay patient population, this role is ideal for nurses with strong assessment skills, a collaborative mindset, and the flexibility to adapt to changing situations while working as part of a supportive team.

Schedule: This SAU/PACU nursing position will be working a .8 (64 hours per pay period), day/evening position, 8 hour shifts with weekends, holiday and call. You will need to be within 30 minutes of Princeton, MN
As a Registered Nurse in Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for:
Assesses patients, patient condition, according to Perioperative Policy and ASPAN Standards:
Completes initial and ongoing assessments of Perianesthesia patients.Completes an initial patient assessment upon the patient’s arrival into the Perianesthesia areaCompletes ongoing assessments according to the patient’s condition and FLMC Perioperative Services policy.Gathers information about the patient from (but not limited to) the patient, the surgeon, OR Nurse, the anesthetist, the patient’s chart and previous caregivers.Reviews medications the patient has received.Documents assessments according to patient condition and Perioperative Services policies and documentation guidelines in accordance with ASPAN Standards of care.Applies nursing plan of care
Provides continuity of careIndividualizes plan for the patientIdentifies expected outcomes in the pre and post-anesthesia setting:Care planning in the pre-op area is documented in the electronic medical record (EMR) using PNDS (perioperative nursing data set)Identifies variances and documents them in the EMRProvides appropriate hand off to receiving patient care areaInterventions are based on patient assessment in accordance with ASPAN Standards
Provides an appropriate environment for patient recoveryResponds appropriately to perianesthesia emergent situationsPrioritizes interventions based on patient condition and patient assignmentMedicates the patient according to patient condition and physician ordersTransports patients to receiving area according to patient status and policyDocuments interventions and patient responseEvaluates care, adapts interventions and prioritizes care based on patient assessment in accordance with ASPAN Standards.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

MN RN LicenseOne year recent RN PACU experience (within the last three years) or 2 years recent Critical Care experience (within the last three years) for example, but not limited to: ICU or ER BLS and ACLS upon hire PALS within 3 months of hirePreferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing2 years of recent RN PACU experience
