As a Lead Charge Nurse in the Weekend Program at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, you will play a pivotal leadership role supporting high‑quality, patient‑centered care on one of Wisconsin’s most advanced hospital campuses. St. Luke’s is home to nationally recognized cardiac and stroke programs, innovative surgical services, and 24/7 on-site specialty support. You will lead teams in a fast‑paced environment where clinical excellence and compassionate care define every shift.

We’re Looking For:

Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursingRegistered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of practiceBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA) within 6 months of hire, unless otherwise determinedBachelor’s degree in Nursing requiredMinimum of 5 years of nursing experienceCharge nurse or leadership experience preferred

What You’ll Do:

In this leadership role, you will ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations during weekend shifts by:

Providing operational oversight to maintain safe staffing, effective workflows, and adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration to support coordinated, effective patient care and optimal clinical outcomes.Offering clinical guidance to nursing staff, supporting decision‑making, documentation standards, and high‑quality clinical interventions.Coaching and developing staff through mentoring, real‑time feedback, and skill‑building opportunities that promote continuous learning and professional growth.Supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for enhancement and partnering with leadership to implement and evaluate changes.Fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork, and professionalism, ensuring the highest standards of patient care are maintained.Promoting clear and effective communication across nursing teams to ensure seamless handoffs, timely updates, and a strong collaborative environment.Ensuring appropriate resource utilization, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, and communicating needs to leadership.Coordinating emergency responses and ensuring effective crisis management in high‑acuity or urgent situations.Advocating for patients and families, ensuring their needs, concerns, rights, and preferences are respected.Upholding ethical and regulatory compliance, ensuring actions align with the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct.Providing age‑appropriate care, supported by understanding of growth and development principles and individualized patient needs.Taking a patient assignment when needed to support safe operations.
