SUMMARY:
As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is a 9-bed, high-acuity medical-surgical unit dedicated to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to critically ill adult patients. Our unit serves a diverse population presenting with a broad spectrum of acute medical and post-operative conditions, providing a dynamic and fast-paced environment ideal for experienced critical care professionals seeking to elevate their clinical practice.
This specialized unit is designed to support both medical and surgical critically ill patients requiring continuous, comprehensive monitoring and intervention. Nurses and healthcare professionals on our team manage complex cases involving respiratory failure, hemodynamic instability, sepsis, acute neurological events, and more. Our ICU functions as a core component of the hospital’s emergency and acute care services, often caring for patients with rapidly evolving conditions that require immediate and coordinated multidisciplinary care.

This position is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV (Clinical Nurse IV) role and requires the following to be completed within 12 months of employment:

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and familyPlanning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and familyEvaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical mattersEDUCATION:
