2400 Unit at Unity Hospital – Nursing Excellence in Complex, Nursing Intensive Patients, Stroke & Palliative Care DNV Certified
The 2400 Unit at Unity Hospital is a 12-bed, high-acuity unit dedicated to the specialized care of patients with complex medical conditions and multiple comorbidities. It provides exceptional nursing care in a collaborative and nurse-driven environment. As a DNV Certified Stroke and Palliative Care Unit, it prioritizes patient-centered care and ensures a comprehensive, holistic approach to each patient’s needs.
Key Features of the 2400 Unit:
Patient Population:Telemetry & Cardiac Care: Patients with conditions such as heart failure, rapid atrial fibrillation, and those requiring continuous IV medications (e.g., Insulin drips, Lasix, Heparin, and cardiac medications).Complex Comorbidities: Includes care for conditions like acute respiratory distress, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management.High Nursing Monitoring: Critical care management including peritoneal dialysis, hourly assessments (vitals, neuro checks, BG levels), and management of high CIWA scores (delirium tremens).Intensive Medical Interventions: Care involving multiple blood products, electrolyte replacement therapy, and advanced wound care techniques.Nurse-Driven Unit:This is an open unit, where nursing assessments and clinical judgment drive patient transfer decisions. This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:
Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employment
Minimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)
15 Continuing education units (CEU's)

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and familyPlanning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and familyEvaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical mattersEDUCATION:
