Position Summary: Registered Nurse Labor & Delivery, Per Diem Evenings Methuen campus
The L&D Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care through knowledge of the nursing process and age-specific requirements. The registered nurse directs and guides patient teaching and delegates activities to members of the patient care team, following departmental and hospital policy and procedure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible to follow all Hospital Policies and Procedures. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the physical and psychosocial care of an assigned group of patients during his/her assigned shift. Assesses patient needs, identifying problems, planning and implementing interventions, delegating activities appropriately, evaluating the effectiveness of the care given, and adjusting the plan accordingly, using the nursing process. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills to: document care given, delegate assignments, relay information, make referrals, and act as liaison between patients, physicians, other hospital disciplines, and community agencies. Uses all available teaching resources to enhance the teaching plan in coordination with other disciplines. He/she assesses patient/family ability to comprehend and adhere to the plan on discharge, including making referrals to appropriate outside agencies. Demonstrates ability to work independently. Provides direction to OR Techs, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary and other support personnelMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Current Massachusetts licensure. Service-specific credentials, certification, and experience as specified. ASN with enrollment in a BSN/MSN program or equivalent service line experience may be considered with CNO approval.
