Job Description

As a Clinical Nurse, you will deliver direct care to assigned adult and or geriatric patients in an ambulatory setting. Independently prioritizes and diligent and effective patient care in a variety of patient situations using appropriate decision-making skills. Exhibits competence in the technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to independently and safely manage routine patient assignment. Nursing care is delivered using standards of care by following approved policies and procedures.

Assesses appropriately patient care needs and learning needs in routine adult and geriatric populations. Uses new knowledge in routine and less sophisticated patient situations.Demonstrates ability to detail pertinent nursing assessment including physical and psycho-social findings on all assigned patientsPrioritizes identified patient care problems within assigned patients and assumes responsibility for problem resolution, using all resources as appropriatePlans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with team membersInitiates and follows through with appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare colleagues and providersDemonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development throughout the lifespan to competently provide care to patientsUtilizes effective time management to complete all assignments in a timely manner to ensure safety of patientsDemonstrates competency in use of technical skills as required (i.e., IV therapy equipment utilization, universal precautions, body mechanicsParticipates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring to maintain or improve care of designated patient populationPerform non-invasive routine technical services under the supervision of a licensed physician.Participates in medication inventory, procurement/receiving, and secure storageParticipates in the patient check out process: facilitating follow-up tests, and referrals and may participate in obtaining prior authorizations to allow for timely scheduling of follow-up appointments to other providers.Assists with maintaining referral system and ensures accurate and timely follow through with all referrals generated.Prepares, cleans exam / procedure room and setup appropriate supplies. Ensures equipment, forms and educational materials are available and ready for use during visit / procedure. Maintains and monitors all equipment used for patient care and testing and reports discrepancies to supervisorPerforms other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program requiredBachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred

Experience:

A minimum of 3 year of acute care nursing experience requiredOncology nursing experience highly preferred

License/Certifications:

Current, unrestricted California State RN License requiredBLS from the American Heart Association requiredOCN certification OR willing to obtain one 1 year from start date
