Title: Registered Nurse –EMS Educator

Scheduled Hours: 12 hours a week;

                                 Hours vary

Job Summary: The EMS Educator assists in the coordination of the Hospital Emergency Medical Services System.

•            Participates in Quality Assurance Programs/CQI

•            Assists with developing, conducting, and supervising education for pre-hospital and hospital personnel

•            Supports Hospital EMS/Trauma initiatives, outreach and operations

Position Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Current IL RN licenseBSN preferred, ADN acceptable with agreement for nurses with less than 12 months of experience to enroll in BSN completion program to be completed in four years.  Nurses with more than 12 months experience in direct patient care must possess a BSN or obtain either BSN or Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) recognized nursing certification within one year of the date of hire or becoming eligible to sit for certification, whichever is later.Minimum of 2-3 years experience in emergency nursing highly desiredCurrent AHA CPR and ACLSCurrent ECRN and TNCCEffective communication skillsAbility to promote good relationships among ED Staff and EMSAbility to use A.V. equipmentBasic presentation skillsWord processing skillsMust be self directed with excellent follow through, and attention to detail.Ability to work some weekends and different shifts to accommodate classes, exams, and outreach activities.Frequently on-call via pager for problems or questionsPossible exposure to adverse or unpleasant patient conditions may be exposed to hazardous materialsConsistently travels to other hospital and area fire department for classes and meetingsAbility to lift and move patients or teaching equipmentAbility to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
