We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Mental Health and Addiction Services. This role works in our Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions Program. It provides support to our Psychosis Day Program as well as our Medication Clinic. In our interdisciplinary Psychosis Day Program, the RN is responsible to facilitate psycho-educational groups and also provides individual support for assigned patients. As the Outpatient Local Case Co-Ordinator for Clozaril, this position assists the outpatient program in the administration/management of clozaril and also supports our LAI medication
clinic.

Hours of work: Day shifts from Monday to Friday (08:30 - 16:30 hrs) with some evenings may be required - subject to change as per Article B – Management Functions
Hourly Rate Range: $40.24 - $57.68

Reporting Relationship: Manager, Adult Mental Health and Addictions Outpatient Programs
Responsibilities:
Assessment and treatment of patients in the Outpatient Mental Health Service, with special emphasis on those individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.Participate in clinic activities, including the depot medication injection clinic and clozapine clinic if required.Collaborate with the Physician Leader, Manager and other stakeholders in the development of new programs for patients and families.Deliver individual/group therapy and psycho-education for patients and/or their families.Evaluate and perform psychiatric and physical status history/assessment of patients who are referred to the program and provide follow-up as required.Facilitate strong working relationship within our internal Mental Health and Addictions programs as well as within our community partners.Nurses may be reassigned to other mental health units as per the Collective AgreementQualifications:
Current registration with CNO required. Current BCLS certification required.BScN or degree in health sciences preferred.Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing required or willingness to obtain when eligible to do so.Two years’ experience in Mental Health required; with two years’ experience in working with patients who have serious and persistent mental illness preferred.Excellent assessment skills using a bio-psycho-social model required.Experience/trained in providing therapy to patients (e.g. interpersonal, cognitive-behavioural, dynamic) is a strong asset.Excellent familiarity with psychotropic medications and ability to administer depot medication.An awareness and Knowledge/experience in Trauma Informed Care preferredExperience with addictions care is an asset, working knowledge of the Mental Health Act.Familiarity with the interplay between substance use history and mental health symptoms.Demonstrates strong initiative and possesses excellent organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a part of the interdisciplinary team.Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
