Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Dietitian-Outpatient Cancer Center.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing optimum nutritional care to patients admitted to inpatient units or in outpatient clinics. Care provided through nutrition screening, assessment, support, counseling, metabolic monitoring, and medical team communication. Act as an ambassador for nutrition services while delivering world class care.

Job Responsibilities:

Completes initial nutrition assessments and reassessments in accordance with departmental policies and guidelines.  Develops and implements evidence-based nutrition care plans tailored to patients medical conditions and needs. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention and follows up as patient needs change. Performs nutrition focused physical exams (NFPE) to determine risk and/or degree of malnutrition.      Document malnutrition using the PES (problem, etiology, sign/symptoms) format, as applicable. Functions as a resource person to interdisciplinary team concerning patients nutritional care.  Educates patients and families on nutrition recommendations and interventions considering cultural needs and readiness to learn. Maintains readiness for regulatory surveys Attends interdisciplinary team rounds and/or meetings as assigned. Manages parenteral nutrition support as assigned. Precepts, counsels and provides training to clinical nutrition staff members, dietetic interns, physician trainees and/or fellows as assigned. Participates in continuing education to maintain professional competency and stay current with the latest nutritional research and evidence-based practices. Participates in quality initiatives and data collection for outcome measures as assigned.  Provides in-service education within the hospital or community setting as needed or requested. Performs other duties assigned. Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Nutrition Department and NYU Langone Health. Achieves a world class level of food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Acts as the liaison between inpatient and outpatient clinical nutrition services for continuity of care.
Develops nutrition education materials
Develops and conducts nutrition education programs, including the development, implementation and coordination of philanthropically supported programs.
Provide nutrition lectures, workshops and in-services for patients, families, caregivers and employees.
Assists with coordination of prior authorization for formulas
Participates in nutrition-related research opportunities.
Demonstrates flexibility within the assigned schedule at NYU Hospitals Center to meet organizational demands and maximize resource utilization.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition Sciences or a related major. Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE) 1200 hour dietetic internship program with emphasis on clinical applications. Registered Dietitian (RD). Successful completion of the RD exam approved though the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR -the credentialing Agency for ADA) – must be obtained within the first six months of employment. Certified Dietitian/ Nutritionist (CDN) Must be obtained within 1 year of hire date. Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78,157.17 – $84,934.42 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
