Make a Difference in Community Health! Our newly opened Sycuan Health Center is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dedicated team and provide exceptional care to our community. Registered Dental Hygienist Job Purpose: Provides dental hygiene services according to licensing protocols and under the appropriate supervision Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time) + Greets patients, making them feel at ease + Seats and dismiss patients that present for hygiene services + Obtains necessary x-rays as directed by the dentist + Helps prepare the treatment tray in preparation for dental care + Assists the dentist within established licensing and supervisory limitations + Adheres to standards for infection control and personal protection in accordance with SMDC, local, state and federal OSHA regulations + Disinfects the dental operatory prior to and after patient care + Maintains the dental unit according to protocol + Replenishes the dental unit distilled water supply + Maintains, sterilizes and disinfects all x-ray machines, operatory equipment, dental attachments, procedure instruments and other equipment utilized during daily operations + Performs operation of eyewash stations, emergency resuscitation gear, defibrillator and fire extinguishers according to protocol + Obtains patient signatures on treatment plans, consent forms, referral consultations, information release waivers and notification of SMDC practice policies + Manages electronic chart documents for FAX, scan and email in accordance with current policy and HIPAA restrictions + Reports workplace hazards and safety issues promptly according to SMDC and OSHA regulations + Complies with the posted General Industry Safety Orders Code of Safe Practices + Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to all components of the patient dental record, other personal information acquired during the performance of job duties and concerning SMDC and interdepartmental discussions + Attends all full staff and departmental meetings + Attends and participates in all SMDC drills, trainings and unscheduled meetings conducted during hours of operation + Performs all job functions in compliance with SMDC policies and procedures Under indirect supervision + Performs extra-oral duties or functions in compliance with the California Dental Board Committee on Registered Dental Hygienists as directed by the supervising dentist + Operates dental radiographic equipment for the purpose of oral radiography in compliance with section 1656 of the California Business and Professions Code Under direct supervision + Performs patient care duties in compliance with the California Dental Board Committee on Registered Dental Hygienists as directed by the supervising dentist Job Specifications: Education and Experience: Essential: + High School Diploma or G.E.D + California Registered Dental Hygienist certificate + California dental x-ray license + California coronal polishing certificate + California cavitron scaler certificate + California dental sealant certificate + Healthcare provider CPR training Desirable: + Dental receptionist experience + Tribal clinic experience Skills and Knowledge: Essential: + Mastery of dental office procedures + Proficient in the use of electronically based dental practice management systems + Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations governing the management of dental records + Ability to speak, read and write in the English language + Ability to use of a Windows based computer + Ability to type 30 words per minute + Proficient in the use of a FAX, scanner and copy machine + Proficient in the use of E-mail and Internet web search browser + Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients and staff + Ability to complete forms and documents + Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks + Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions + Ability to maintain confidentiality + Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor + Ability to appear for work on time + Ability to sit or stad for prolonged periods of time + Ability to lift up to 40 lbs + Ablilty to perform repetitive bending, reaching, pulling and pushing tasks + Ability to accept constructive criticism Desirable: + Understanding of Native American culture and customs + Mastery of the Dentrix dental practice management system + Multi-lingual + Mastery of Windows-based computer programs + Proficiency in the use of NextGen electronic record system Supervisory/Managerial Accountability: Direct: None Indirect: None If you enjoy being part of a community dedicated to creating a memorable guest experience, we invite you to explore career opportunities with Sycuan and join our winning team!
