The Regional Field Director is responsible for leading the Lumateperone Medical Science Liaison (MSL) regional team in providing scientific, research, and educational support to health care professionals and internal partners related to the current and future Janssen Neuroscience products. The Regional Field Director will partner with the MSL Head to set and drive strategy for their region/organized providers. The Regional Field Director is responsible for insuring strong clinical engagement strategy for each territory within their region, and will conduct routine strategy reviews with each MSL direct report. The primary role of the Regional Field Director is to provide support, coaching and development to each or their direct reports (MSLs), utilizing the competency model, routine feedback, and periodic field observation. The Regional Field Director will be responsible for the execution of field Medical Affairs programs, including product launches, proactive initiatives, and HCP engagement. The Regional Field Director is responsible for insuring that each direct report is functioning at the expected level of scientific acumen/expertise, presentation skills, and soft skill abilities. The Regional Field Director is responsible to stay abrest of the scientific information and disease states to ensure the ability for proficient interaction on the topic and to support modeling and coaching with their team. They will also ensure the MSL execution of listening priorities and the collection and analysis of Medical Insights.
The Regional Field Director will embody positive change leadership, including maintaining performance, professionalism, and integrity in stressful situations and multiple task settings; Coordinating with other Medical Affairs and Scientific Affairs personnel. Planning coordination will be required to effectively manage priorities. The Regional Field Director is expected to identify possible solution(s) and make a recommendation to the supervisor for action. The recommendations are expected to support the company’s scientific objectives. In addition, the Regional Field Director will work collaboratively with local and regional internal business partners to meet scientific needs of customers.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for the management of a regional Lumateperone MSL team including:
+ Ensure that team functions according to the business plan and company directives
+ Conducts routine team field visits and 1:1 meetings, providing observation and coaching
+ Conduct performance coaching and feedback discussions
+ Provide oversight responsibility for team’s training and development
+ Ensure team optimal capacity, field activity level, and field metrics
+ Ensures each MSL territory plan is strategic, up to date and actionable.
+ Manages the team through special projects and cross functional support activities
+ Recruiting and retention of a diverse team of top talent and will actively implement leadership strategies to inspire and motivate their team members
+ Provide career and succession planning in support of staff reaching their highest potential
+ Provide an optimal working environment by promoting/functioning according to the Credo value, communication of a clear direction, active listening, respecting diversity, encouraging collaborative partnership, empowering direct reports, follow up on commitments, promoting innovation, and rewarding high performance
+ Responsible for timely completion of administrative duties. Examples include assessment and approval of expense reports, preparation and communication of team metric reports, among others.
+ Participate in business planning activities as necessary across the various brands and within Medical Affairs. Ensure appropriate training on and execution of proactive initiatives and other permissible field activities.
+ Co-lead the communication of MSL team achievement updates to appropriate internal partners and levels of management
+ The Regional Field Director will partner with the MSL Head to develop and execute the strategy for their region/organized providers. Provide insights and perspective from their KOLs and other specialists that will help refine the development of the overall TA strategy
+ Leading scientific projects and programs as assigned by the Scientific Director. This will include joint strategic design with the Scientific Director and independent tactical execution.
+ Ensures effective and efficient collection and distribution of medical insights to appropriate internal stakeholders.
+ May be responsible for identifying and developing field scientific strategies
+ Participates and/or leads cross functional/company initiatives
Requirements:
+ A minimum of a master’s degree is required. PharmD, PhD, MD highly preferred.
+ A minimum of 8 years of experience required with at least 4-5 years of pharmaceutical industry and/or clinical/research experience is required
+ A minimum of 2-3 years of MSL experience is required.
+ A valid driver’s license issued in the United States.
Preferred:
+ Neuroscience experience is strongly preferred.
+ Previous people management responsibility is strongly preferred.
This role requires up to 60% of travel, including overnight travel.

**The anticipated base pay range for this position is :**
$164,000.00 - $282,900.00
For Bay Area:
$189,000.00 - $325,450.00
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
