Regional Media Analysts
The Regional Media Analyst provides language-specific, culturally informed analysis of the foreign media and information environment across the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility. Using advanced proficiency in Arabic, Farsi, Turkish, Russian, Hebrew, and Pashto, Regional Media Analysts monitor how regional audiences receive, interpret, and react to U.S. and USCENTCOM activities. This role delivers Area of Operations insight that cannot be derived from English-language reporting alone, ensuring Public Affairs products are informed by authentic regional narratives, trusted information sources, and audience sentiment before and after release. Regional Media Analysts serve as a critical connective layer between the information environment, Public Affairs execution, strategic planning, and assessment. Primary responsibilities include: + Conducts continuous, language-specific monitoring of traditional media, digital platforms, and social media within assigned regions to identify emerging narratives, sentiment shifts, and influential voices. + Provides contextual analysis of regional media coverage using native or near-native language proficiency to explain why stories resonate, how narratives evolve, and which information sources and voices audiences trust. + Assesses targeted audience sentiment by platform, identifying differences in perception across media ecosystems rather than treating regional audiences as monolithic. + Scrubs regional media and social platforms to distinguish authentic discourse from coordinated, amplified, or inauthentic behavior, informing narrative risk awareness. + Evaluates Public Affairs content for regional relevance, cultural appropriateness, and potential second-order effects prior to release. + Translates foreign-language media reporting and USCENTCOM content as required, providing quality control to ensure accuracy, nuance, and cultural fidelity before dissemination into the AoR. Drives regional media insights, translations, and narrative assessments directly to Strategy, Plans, and Policy Planners and Assessment Analysts to inform planning, messaging alignment, and effectiveness evaluation.
