The Regional Portfolio Management Team Leader is a senior level management position with immediate direct supervision of several Credit Analysts and Portfolio Managers, with future supervision of Portfolio Management Team Leaders. The Regional PM TL is responsible for all aspects of portfolio management including transaction structuring, underwriting, credit approval, portfolio monitoring and problem loan identification for a growing portfolio across NYC, New Jersey, and Long Island in the Middle Market sector.
This leader will work directly with the Regional Executive, Division Head, Relationship Management Market Executives, Portfolio Managers, and Credit Risk Management to evaluate credit opportunities, manage underwriting workflows, maintain portfolio quality, and ensure credit process efficiencies. In addition this leader will:
Approve credit requests based on delegated approval authority granted providing critical views on credit requests including new business, amendments, and restructures
Assesses credit issues, performance and industry trends, appropriateness of structural terms and conditions, compliance with policy and underwriting guidelines and provides recommendations to improve structure and mitigate risks
Oversee the recruitment, training, coaching, assessing and development of Portfolio Management team leaders, portfolio managers and analysts within the Division
Maintain an organization where PMs are empowered and highly engaged in delivering credit solutions to our clients and achieve strong collaboration among the coverage teams in the Division
Improve workflows, optimize resourcing, and build out an environment that supports the achievement of the Division’s goals and budget. As such, this position will be responsible for designing and implementing new policies, procedures, strategies and process changes.
Lead corporate initiatives related to model development, credit process improvements and/or stress testing
Build a strong control and early warning environment with timely periodic portfolio and financial reviews, ratings assessments, collateral monitoring, tickler reporting, and regulatory compliance to maintain portfolio quality
Achieve satisfactory or better ratings from Credit Review and Compliance and meet compliance targets for annual reviews, risk ratings, and covenant compliance monitoring.
Liaise with Portfolio Managers, Credit Risk and workout colleagues on deteriorating credits
Partner with product and operations units including Loan Operations, Cash Management, Derivatives, Corporate Card, Leasing, to proactively manage issues so that revenue opportunities are maximized and customer satisfaction is maintained
Requirements:
15+ plus years Commercial Banking experience with sole bank, agented and club deal Commercial Banking transactions
Balanced approach to enable focus on both business unit goals and risk management objectives
Strong understanding of general credit and risk principles, mitigants, and banking policies and procedures
Skilled at developing and implementing both strategic and tactical solutions in support of portfolio administration and business unit goals and objectives
Able to multi task and function under pressure to meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
Flexible change agent able to lead both process and organizational changes
Skilled at developing and executing on strategic solutions and systems in support of Portfolio Administration and business unit goals and objectives
Experience with direct reports who are managers
BA/BS degree, and/or MBA preferably in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting

Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $260,000 - $290,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, relevant skills, and experience.
