Summary: A seafood Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing refrigeration systems used in seafood processing and storage facilities. This includes troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, performing regular maintenance tasks, and ensuring that the refrigeration systems are operating efficiently and effectively. The mechanic may also be involved in installing new refrigeration equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical components, and troubleshooting techniques is essential for this role. The seafood refrigeration mechanic plays a crucial role in preserving the quality and freshness of seafood products.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Conducts regular maintenance tasks on refrigeration systems used in seafood processing and storage facilities. This includes inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating components, as well as replacing worn-out parts.  

Troubleshoots and diagnoses refrigeration issues to identify and resolve any malfunctions or breakdowns. 

Assists in the installation of new refrigeration equipment, ensuring proper placement, connection, and calibration. This may involve working with other technicians or contractors to ensure the system is installed correctly and meets safety and regulatory standards. 

Monitors the performance of refrigeration systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and effectively. This includes checking temperature and pressure levels, monitoring energy consumption, and identifying any abnormalities or potential issues. 

Ensures compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards related to refrigeration systems. This includes following proper procedures for handling refrigerants, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents or environmental harm. 

Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. This includes documenting any issues or concerns, recording completed tasks, and generating reports as required. 

Collaborates with other team members, such as seafood processing staff or facility managers, to understand their needs and address any refrigeration-related concerns. Effective communication skills are essential for providing updates, explaining technical issues, and coordinating maintenance schedules. 

Assists with additional maintenance mechanic duties as time allows. 

Performs repairs and replacements of faulty parts to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. 

Adheres to safety protocols and regulations while working with machinery and equipment. 

Identifies opportunities for process improvement and suggests modifications to enhance equipment performance. 

Stays updated with industry trends and advancements in seafood processing equipment to provide effective maintenance solutions. 

Conducts thorough testing and precise adjustments of equipment to meet and exceed performance specifications. 

Performs minor building maintenance tasks. 

 

Additional Responsibilities:   

Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned. 

Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. 

Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings. 

 

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $35.45 to $37.70 per hour.
