Recreation Advisor Part Time (60545)
Salary Range $17.20 Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Category Other Description The Miami Job Corps Center is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Recreation Advisor to support the physical, social, and emotional well-being of students through a comprehensive and diverse recreation program. This position works collaboratively with the Recreation team to promote health, wellness, teamwork, and positive student engagement in accordance with the approved recreation schedule and Job Corps program requirements. The Recreation Advisor is cross-trained with Residential Advisor duties to support student supervision, mentorship, and safety within both recreation and residential environments. Key Responsibilities Recreation Program Duties + Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing structured and unstructured recreational activities that promote student health, wellness, and positive social development. + Supervise students during recreational activities to ensure safety, appropriate conduct, and compliance with Miami Job Corps Center policies. + Encourage student participation and foster an inclusive, respectful recreation environment. + Maintain recreation facilities, equipment, and supplies in safe, clean, and operable condition. + Complete required attendance records, activity logs, and reports related to recreation programming. + Residential Advisor Cross-Training Duties + Provide guidance and mentorship to students to support positive behavior, independent living skills, and personal development. + Assist with monitoring dormitories, common areas, and center grounds as assigned to ensure student safety and policy compliance. + Support conflict resolution and crisis intervention efforts using approved Job Corps procedures. + Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive residential environment that supports student success. + Support the Career Development Services (CDS) system by modeling positive behaviors and encouraging peer leadership. + General Responsibilities + Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and appropriate conduct at all times. + Support, promote, and enforce all Job Corps and Adams and Associates policies, including the Zero Tolerance Policy. + Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff, and center stakeholders. + Maintain regular and predictable attendance. + Work overtime when directed to meet center operational needs. + Perform other duties as assigned. + Education and Experience Requirements + High School Diploma or equivalent required + Associate of Arts degree or one (1) year of related experience working with youth + Experience working with at-risk youth preferred + Certifications and Licenses + Valid Florida Driver’s License required + Must meet Adams and Associates insurability requirements + Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred + Physical Requirements + Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and carry + Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, or assess lift load and request assistance as needed + Benefits + 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees + No-cost coverage for single enrollees; buy-up options available for dependents + Employer-sponsored Wellness Program + Retirement plan options + 401(k) after one year of service with employer matching + 12 paid holidays per year + Generous vacation and sick leave accruals + Professional development and training opportunities + VOYA voluntary benefits + Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer match + Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Dependent Care FSA + Employee Assistance Program (EAP) + Discounted employee meals at $2.50 per meal + Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Adams and Associates, Inc., operating the Miami Job Corps Center, is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Qualifications Additional Key Responsibilities + Adhere to all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensure there is no manipulation of student data. + Assist with the supervision and implementation of a comprehensive and diverse recreation program. + Coordinate recreation activities with Career Preparation Period (CPP) and Social Development to include evening programming. + Coordinate recreation and leadership activities with center departments and local community resources. + Ensure safe practices and program compliance in accordance with established safety guidelines. + Document student participation and accountability during recreation activities. + Maintain inventory of recreation equipment and materials; control usage, recommend purchases, and perform minor equipment repairs as needed. + Ensure the overall appearance, condition, and organization of recreation department facilities. + May oversee the Student Recreation Aide Program, as assigned. + Produce quality work and assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner. + Maintain appropriate attendance, accountability, and productivity standards. + Plan, prioritize, and organize work assignments to meet established goals and deadlines. + Demonstrate understanding and application of job knowledge to effectively perform all required duties; proactively maintain and improve job-related skills. + Mentor, monitor, and model Career Success Standards in accordance with the Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH). + Provide high-quality supervision to the student population, positively influencing behavior while showing respect and holding students accountable for their actions. + Provide timely operational support to ensure quality center programs and services; pursue continuous improvement to meet program objectives. + Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; contribute meaningfully to team efforts and provide accurate, timely information to the Department of Labor (DOL) and company leadership when requested. + Identify problems, analyze root causes, evaluate appropriate solutions, and follow through to ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective. + Work collaboratively with staff from all departments to ensure effective student supervision and service delivery. + Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director, Center Duty Officer, and/or Shift Manager, including temporary assignments to support other departments or positions as needed. + Perform other duties as assigned.
