Recovery Recausticizing Engineer

Job Summary:  As the Recovery Recausticizing Engineer, you will impact the Recovery department by managing and improving daily operations for all Recausticizing equipment. You will be responsible for managing technical projects aimed at product and process problem solving. This includes improving runtime and production rates in addition to reducing costs. You will also work with other department leadership to manage scheduled maintenance and continuous improvement.   

 

Major Job Responsibilities: 

Business Excellence

Determine and implement process changes and/or trials to improve operating efficiency and performance and minimize variationPerform daily checks of production output and contributing factors Partner with operations, Maintenance, E&I, and Process Control Engineers to understand all processes and how teams and individuals are involved and impacted at each stepProvide operators, other managers, and salaried employees with analytical support and problem-solving related to operating processes  Drive continuous process improvement within the Recausticizing plantUtilize daily troubleshooting, shutdowns, and startups as opportunities to reinforce trainingWork with other department leadership to drive safetyEnsure operations comply with all Environmental regulationsParticipate in daily team production meetingsWill work regular night and weekend duty call rotationAssist and begin learning all aspects of Recovery operationsUse material balances to identify process problems with transmitters and other equipmentTrack and analyze data related to any trials, changes and continual production information to inform recommendations and decisionsGather and cleanse production and process data and perform statistical/analytical tests to uncover important variables and their impacts 

 

People and Culture

Review and share best practices with peers in technical subject areas including computer software and systems (Plant Information System, Excel, quality data tracker, electronic log sheet) Support the area operations management with daily production reportingRegularly communicate process-related data to operations and management in readily consumable wayDeliver presentations to operations team and leadership providing an executive-level summary of Process Excellence projects

Technical Skills:

Proficient computer skills including experience with the following systems and applications:Microsoft Office – Excel (ability to script macros is preferred), Outlook, PowerPoint, WordPlant Information SystemMinitab 

 

Work Environment:

Office within the Mill – 4+ hours at computer

 

Experience: 

Required: 2-5 years of experience in a process engineering role Preferred: Work experience in the paper industry or similar industry through an internship or co-op 

 

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering; chemical engineering preferredPreferred: VBA trainingPreferred: PI Training Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
