The Opportunity

This position will work closely with Valvoline’s Acquisitions team, including the other attorneys and professionals focused on the company’s strategic transactions. As Acquisitions Real Estate Counsel, you will assist with acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and other transactions with particular emphasis on the real estate issues, and engage collaboratively to enable the business as a subject matter expert providing advice and legal counsel.

How You'll Make a Difference

Drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreementsDrafting and reviewing letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, SNDAs, closing documents, title commitments and related agreementsCoordinating with capital partnersConducting due diligence, including title/survey review and identifying encumbrances and restrictions impacting a siteCoordinating transaction closingsAssess and advise on risk and alignment with the company’s long-term real estate strategy and business objectivesFacilitating processes and procedures to optimize productivity and keep the team organizedAssist with other special projects as necessary

What You'll Need to Succeed

US state bar active member in good standingLaw degree from an accredited universityMinimum 5 years of commercial real estate legal experienceDemonstrated expertise in real estate transactions and commercial leasesUnderstanding of mergers and acquisitions and commercial/corporate lawExcellent drafting, negotiation, analytical and communication skillsAbility to thrive in a high energy, fast-paced environmentProactive and resourceful in seeking out and finding accurate and relevant informationOrganized and detail-oriented while juggling competing prioritiesSolution-oriented mentality and the ability to make risk-based judgementsTeam playerMust be authorized to work in the U.S.
