Immediate hiring: Railcar Repairman/welder

Job Description

As a Railcar Repairman, you will engage in 60% mechanical work and 40% welding work to repair rail cars. This role demands physical exertion and involves working in a dirty, industrial environment. While flux core welding is preferred, training is available for MIG welders, with a weld test determining your training needs.

ResponsibilitiesWork safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks.Coordinate and complete all railcar repairs and maintenance.Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints/schematics to perform required repairs.Utilize basic mechanical skills to weld, cut, and gouge.Notify of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure job task completion.Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean, and comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.Ensure FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.Complete any other duties as assigned to complete the task.Essential SkillsStrong mechanical aptitude and ability to weld.Knowledge of hand tools, air tools, and other mechanical assembly tools.Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical or railcar work.Ability to stand for long periods, work in varying temperatures, and perform repetitive lifting.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to take a flux core weld test to determine training needs.Experience in torch cutting, flux core welding, grinding, and fabrication.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in an environment that can be extremely hot in the summer and cold in the winter, with exposure to heavy industrial conditions. The role is physically demanding and requires working in a dirty setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
