Job Title: Railcar Repairman
Job Description

This position involves performing both mechanical and welding tasks to repair railcars. It is a physically demanding and hands-on job, with a focus on both mechanical work and welding. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in challenging environments.

ResponsibilitiesPerform 60% mechanical work and 40% welding work to repair railcars.Work safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks.Coordinate and complete all railcar repairs and maintenance.Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints or schematics for required repairs.Utilize basic mechanical skills and knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut, and gouge.Notify of any materials and equipment required to complete tasks.Follow all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.Ensure FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.Complete any other duties as assigned to complete tasks.Essential SkillsStrong mechanical aptitude and welding ability.Experience with hand tools, air tools, and welding equipment.Ability to stand for long periods and lift repetitively.Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and fabrication.Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially with mechanical or railcar work, is highly desired.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to take a fluxcore weld test to determine training needs.Experience with fluxcore welding is preferred but not required.Ability to work with grinding and torch cutting tools.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, with a dirty and heavy industrial setting. Employees must be prepared to work in all weather conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
