(https://hr.uw.edu/benefits/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/02/benefits-summary-classified-staff-greater-than-half-time-20220908\_a11y.pdf) **UW MEDICAL CENTER - RADIATION ONCOLOGY** has an outstanding opportunity for a **RADIATION THERAPY DOSIMETRIST.** **WORK SCHEDULE** - FULL TIME; 1.0 FTE; 40 HOURS PER WEEK - DAY SHIFT **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** This role plans and reviews radiation treatment regimens for a wide spectrum of tumor sites and treatment modalities. Provides technical review of simulation and does independent dose calculation. Reviews radiation therapy treatments to achieve optimal patient preparation for radiotherapy. In collaboration with Medical physicists and Radiation Oncologists may consult to change/alter planned treatment approach to optimize dose delivery and distribution. Under general direction, perform treatment planning for radiation therapy. May perform some of the following duties: •Develop individual plans for courses of radiation therapy; perform tumor localizations, dose calculations, and treatment simulations. •Review treatment plans, consult with physicians and prepare treatment summary documents. •Assist physicians and physicists in intracavitary and interstitial placement of radioactive sources; perform dose calculations and localizations of this therapy. •Participate in the training and orientation of radiation oncology physicians and radiation therapy technologists, and other assigned staff. •Maintain detailed and accurate daily records of technical, legal and statistical components of treatment planning. •Prepare a variety of reports, such as medical and activity reports, charge documents, etc. Systems Operation: •Create radiation treatment plans using Pinnacle or similar planning system in compliance with current radiation safety standards. •Create plans for numerous treatment modalities to include intensity modulated radiation therapy, image guided radiation therapy, fractionated stereotactic deliveries and other specialty treatments. •Knowledge of hospital specific information systems and the ability to derive necessary data from these. •Knowledge of IMPAC enabled systems. Patient Care: •Explain process to patients. •Monitors patient during simulation or other procedures and take corrective actions or get appropriate help if necessary. •Familiar with infection control methods such as appropriate hand hygiene and equipment cleaning and sterilization methods. Teamwork and Communication: •Ability to work cooperatively with team members to ensure patient safety. •Treats patients, families and co-workers professionally and with compassion. •Communicates effectively with clinical team members including physicians, RNs, medical physicists and others. •Understands basics of patient confidentiality and privacy. •Documentation meets current standards and policies. Assists in maintaining basic records, reports and files. **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** - A Bachelor’s Degree in the physical or biological sciences OR - registered in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists or equivalent organization AND two years of experience in Radiation Therapy Technology AND completion of a one-year program in Medical Dosimetry recognized by the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists OR - one year of on-the-job training in dosimetry under the supervision of a dosimetrist, medical physicist or radiation oncologist OR equivalent education/experience. **ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE** UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
