About Model Validation Group

The Model Validation Group in Hangzhou, China will cover the models used at State Street to make business and operating decisions—most notably regulatory, economic capital and AI/ML models, as well as insuring the implementation of Model Risk Governance Program guidelines and requirements. These models are in areas including wholesale credit risk (e.g., probability of default, loss given default, exposure measurement, and loan loss reserving); market risk (e.g., daily value at risk pricing models, counterparty credit risk, Asset Liability Management risk, and terms structure models); operational risk; and AI/ML models related to bank’s business areas.

What you will be responsible for

As Quantitative Model Risk Analyst, AVP you will

Perform validations on quantitative models utilized by State Street for regulatory reporting and business decision-making.Execute validation framework for AI/ML models, including generative AI, nature language processing and deep learning models.Perform deep analysis on large scale datasets through applying mathematical derivation, statistical analysis or machine learning approaches.Conduct quantitative analysis to evaluate and quantify risks of various models.Streamline the existing analytical process; increase the pace of execution through automation.Communicate with model developers and business to relay the issues and feedback and capture the action plans.Prepare and present required reports/reviews to management.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Master or PHD degree in a quantitative disciplines (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering or equivalents).4+ years of working experience in quantitative analytics, including model development or independent model validation, in a financial service institution, fintech or consulting firm.Deep understanding of traditional machine learning, generative AI, deep learning and large language models and have experience in assessing model performance.Some understanding of various regulations such as Basel, stress testing and CCAR is a plusProven communication skills in English.Advanced programming skills in at least one supported statistical programming environment (Python preferred).

Additional requirements

Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines. Finance and/or risk management certificates like CFA and FRM are preferred but not required.
