About the Role
Actalent is seeking a highly motivated Quality Systems Engineer to support one of our manufacturing clients in Columbia, IL. This role will strengthen and advance the client's Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100D, and IATF standards. The engineer will be a key contributor to system integrity, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management Systems & ComplianceSupport the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the ISO 9001 QMS, including documentation control, internal audits, and corrective action activities.Serve as the technical lead for AS9102D First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) - managing documentation, reviews, and customer submissions.Own IATF PPAP documentation and coordinate cross‑functional inputs for customer approval packages.Quality Engineering & Problem SolvingConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions using quality tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, FMEA, and Control Plans.Support the Customer Feedback System through issue evaluation, detailed investigations, and trend analysis.Apply statistical methods to improve product and process performance.Testing, Inspection & ValidationPerform material testing and dimensional inspections to ensure product compliance with specifications.Lead or assist with qualification activities—including IQ/OQ/PQ—for new equipment, processes, or systems.Documentation & TrainingDevelop, update, and maintain QMS documentation aligned with corrective actions and process changes.Prepare quality documentation such as Certificates of Conformance and Corrective Action Reports.Train employees on quality procedures, standards, and tools to strengthen organizational capability.Continuous Improvement & Change ManagementLead or support kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives across operational areas.Participate in change management activities by assessing quality risks and ensuring proper controls.Promote and uphold safe working practices in all tasks.Required Skills & QualificationsStrong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, audits, CAPA, and quality control principles.Experience working with quality management systems.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio).Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.Experience using measurement and inspection tools.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.Coursework or formal training in ISO 9001, AS9100D, or IATF standards.ASQ certifications (CQE, CQT, CSSGB, etc.) highly preferred.Previous manufacturing-based quality engineering experience.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain professionalism in a fast‑paced environment.Work EnvironmentThis is an on‑site role with standard hours of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Columbia, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
They offer a full-benefit package including the following benefits that are paid 100% by the company: vacation, holidays, $25,000 in life insurance and short-term and long-term disability benefits. We also offer medical (premium cost shared with the company – we pay 99% of premiums for employee basic plan), dental & vision insurance. Insurance benefits start the 1st of the month after 60 days of employment. 401K retirement plan with a company match of 25% of the 1st 6% the employee contributes (match starts bi-annually after 1 year of employment). Reimbursement of travel expenses that includes meals, flights, rental cars, gas and hotels. Profit sharing starts after an employee has been with the company for 3 full years.
