Quality Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Lab Technician to join our team. This role involves spending 80% of the time in the laboratory and the remaining 20% on tasks such as collecting samples from drums or totes, participating in quality audits, and conducting raw material inspections. The successful candidate will perform quality control lab tests on products, including FTIR, densitometer, pH, x-ray spectrophotometer, and color and clarity testing.

Responsibilities

Conduct testing and sampling of incoming materials following a detailed inspection plan, including bulk material shipments, bottles, labels, drums, finished goods, and other packaging/product components.Perform flash tests to determine product flammability.Test in-process and finished product batches for specification compliance, verifying batch quantities and tank reading conversions.Prepare laboratory batches and set up product stability tests, documenting product/package performance and recording data.Develop product specifications through sampling evaluation and testing as required by Standard Operating Procedures.Manage the removal and storage of product retains as per requirements.Complete, file, and store all required Quality Assurance paperwork, such as batch sheets and receiving reports, according to Standard Operating Procedures.Perform duties necessary to spot, sample, receive, and unload raw materials arriving in bulk tankers.Create weight standards for production lines that serve as “Master” standards for product components, including bottles, caps, hang tags, liquids, labels, etc.Calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment following directions from the Quality & Compliance Manager.Conduct third-party microbial testing.Support compliance implementation and maintenance.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in wet chemistry, pH, laboratory procedures, and quality control.Experience with titrations and chemistry.Bachelor's degree in the sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry) and at least 1 year of experience working in a lab.Experience with two of the following tests or instruments: FTIR, densitometer, pH, x-ray spectrophotometer, color and clarity testing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
