Role OverviewThe Quality Inspector will perform detailed inspections across production and incoming materials, maintain accurate quality documentation, support audits, and collaborate closely with manufacturing and engineering teams. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement within a high‑mix, low‑volume environment.
Key Responsibilities🔍 Production Quality InspectionPerform in‑process and final inspections for production assembliesFollow work instructions and customer quality requirements with strict accuracyUse microscopes and precision tools to inspect small, high‑value componentsComplete inspection checklists in alignment with production schedules📦 Incoming Quality InspectionInspect incoming materials per defined criteria and quality control plansVerify documentation, certifications, and material recordsInspect materials requiring special handling (glues, adhesives, chemicals)Confirm labeling, expiration dates, storage requirements, and SDS availability🗂️ Documentation & Data ControlReview Travelers, Work Orders, and inspection records for completenessScan, file, and maintain quality records to meet ISO 9001 and customer standards🛡️ Audits & ComplianceParticipate in monthly process auditsMonitor daily ESD compliance, including humidity checksFollow and reinforce quality procedures and handling requirements🤝 Communication & Continuous ImprovementAttend daily stand‑up meetings and provide inspection updatesParticipate in discussions on gating items, risks, and inspection constraintsAssist in training technicians on quality expectationsIdentify opportunities to streamline or standardize inspection and documentation processesRequired SkillsMicroscope inspectionAbility to read and interpret schematicsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent2+ years in manufacturing, inspection, or quality rolesStrong adherence to detailed work instructions and quality proceduresFamiliarity with ISO 9001 or similar QMSComfortable inspecting small precision parts under a microscopeExcellent attention to detail and documentation accuracyBasic computer skills; ability to learn PLM/quality systems (e.g., Arena)Experience in photonics, optics, microelectronics, or aerospace/defense manufacturingUnderstanding of ESD‑controlled environmentsExperience with nonconformance reporting and MRB processesAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionClear communication with manufacturing, operations, and quality leadershipJob Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $39.00/hr.
